Is Your Thyroid Out of Balance?

For many years, thyroid problems have been downplayed
and misunderstood. When I was diagnosed with Grave's
Disease in 1991, the diagnosis was rare at that time.
Today, Grave's Disease is common and occurring more in
men than ever before in human history.

What Does the Thyroid Do?

Your thyroid is a small butterfly-shaped gland wrapped
around the windpipe and located behind and below the
Adam's Apple. The thyroid produces several hormones, of
which two are primary: T3 and T4. These hormones help
oxygen get into cells and make your thyroid the master
gland of metabolism.

How You Can Keep Your Thyroid Gland Healthy

As I wrote in SWEET POISON, I restored my thyroid by
removing all chemicals from my diet, drinking plenty of
bottled water, and supplementing with the specific
vitamins and nutrients determined by a hair analysis.
It is important to improve the quality of the fluids you
drink and the foods you eat daily. Eliminate sodas
(especially diet sodas), fruit juices from concentrate, and
too much iced tea. Replace refined and processed foods
with whole grains and raw sugars, such as Succanat.
Modify the foods that convert to sugar quickly, causing
your body to make too much insulin which can distress
your thyroid and adrenal glands. Focus on raw and
natural food sources for your daily diet.
